Understanding Mental Illness from Inside It

Mental Activity... Thought Training Drills.

Being aware that my thoughts were dark and suicidal in nature, when lying in bed at night, and realizing that children rarely suffer mental illnesses, when compared with adults, I embarked on deliberately thinking 'child-like' thoughts.

This is what I began to think, by conscious choice...

'A' is for Apple... 'B' is for Banana... 'C' is for Carrot... 'D' is for Dog... etc. etc.

Having run through the entire Alphabet in this manner, I then doubled the process... ie... 'A' is for An Apple... 'B' is for Brown Banana... 'C' is for Cut Carrots... 'D' is for Drinking Dog... etc. etc.

Continuing in this manner, over and over, becomes more and more difficult. Until only a few letters can continue... eg... 'H' is for How many Happy and Hallucinating Hairy Hippies, Happen, Having consumed Huge amounts of Hooch... ie... Hemp? Answer... Hundreds.

Once you've reached this stage, the mind is now exhausted and is ready to take a break.

It's like this...

A person who is as sane as can be, races a schizophrenic, in a 500 metre sprint foot race...

When you look at both of them, immediately afterward, it is impossible to tell them apart, as both are leaning forward, hands on their thighs, gleaming and dripping with perspiration, looking at one another, both gasping for breath. They're both too exhausted to be sane or crazy.

The end result... The mind is in no fit state to carry on in ANY manner, let alone madness, and the period immediately afterward, is a window of opportunity to fall asleep.

Sanity Rebuild

The realization occurred to me, that at one stage in the past, I was, as can be remembered... sane.

The rebuilding process takes place, by renewal of the neural pathways, that existed, before I went crazy.

So in order to re-establish my mind... start from scratch... ie... VERBALLY recite the alphabet.

"A.B.C.D.E.F.G... H.I.J.K... L.M.N.O.P... Q.R.S.T.U.V... W.X.Y.Z."

Then the digits... ie... "1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.0."

...then vowels... ie... "A.E.I.O.U."

As you can see, the process of renewing the network of pathways, within the brain, that are absolutes, is a solid foundation of concrete truth, and facts, that will have your mind on an even keel.

You can go even further...

"2x2=4... 2x3=6... 2x4=8... etc. etc." This type of thought control, can be used to cancel out any delusion or psychosis at will.

This is consistent with the most commonly known form of anger management... ie... counting to ten, before replying, or taking action, against that which has made you angry. The difference being, instead of 'anger' management, you have a more basic 'mental' management.
